Strong in Style talks to Melissa, founder of eco-conscious brand Rumi X.
What made you start RUMI X?
RUMI X was born from my passions of wellness, mindfulness and womens’ empowerment. I wanted to develop something that made a positive contribution to our planet and to create an awareness for mindful consumption.
Tell us a little about being a sustainable/eco-friendly brand?
Our eco-friendly apparel line is made of fabric from recycled plastic and upcycled coffee grounds. Some people love that our product is helping our environment and some are very curious as to how the products are made from these materials! We truly love being a company that empowers women and makes a difference in the environment we live in!
What is your favourite piece from the collection?
I have always loved the Wise Mint Support Top which keeps you warm, with a built-in shelf bra and convenient deep-pockets on both sides. It’s a flattering all-in-one!
How would you describe the RUMI X girl?
Mindful, an independent thinker, fun, and stylish!
What is your favourite workout?
Recently, I’ve been getting into more pilates and working on my posture and alignment
What motivates you to workout?
My dog! he keeps me active and motivates me to stay in shape, I bring him everywhere!
Where is on your travel wishlist?
Living in Asia for 8 years, I’ve traveled extensively through Asia Pacific and Eastern countries. Now that I’m living in NY, I’d like to go to South America – Argentina, Galapagos Islands, Russia, South Africa – there’s so many places!
Who is inspiring you on instagram at the moment?
@youareluminous – her feed is made of mostly quotes but they really resonate with me and are very inspirational!
