Girlfriend Collective Launch Recycle. Reuse. ReGirlfriend. Campaign

Sustainable activewear brand Girlfriend Collective launched their Recycle.Reuse.ReGirlfriend. upcycling campaign this week. The first of its kind, this sustainable approach to production will see the brand take back old Girlfriend Collective products and turn them into new pieces that can be worn again.

The US based brand are currently using plastic bottles to create their leggings and this new campaign is the next step at combating global textile waste.

“Closing the loop and making your pieces completely renewable is the holy grail for clothing — we believe this is the future,” says Quang Dinh, co-founder of Girlfriend Collective. “We want to upcycle water bottles and recycle clothes. We upcycle single-use water bottles into clothing you can reuse and wear for years — now we’re going to be able to recycle that clothing into new clothes.”

To take part in this campaign, send Girlfriend Collective your old compressive bras, leggings, and shorts to be recycled into new ones by purchasing a shipping label ($7). Once they have your old product it will be shredded, the polyester is separated from the spandex, and the polyester is recycled into new Girlfriend clothing. You’ll also get $15 store credit to use on any future purchase and with 18 colours to choose from in the compression leggings and sizes ranging from XXS to 6XL the only hard part will be deciding which pair to try next.
